Update: Police appeal after Harlow man killed on Second Avenue

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward, who they have not yet spoken to, following a fatal road traffic collision which happened in Second Avenue, in Harlow, at around 4pm on Monday December 16.

Police and ambulance paramedics had attended at the scene following reports that a pedestrian had been in collision with a lorry and the road was closed whilst they dealt with the incident.

Paramedics treated the man but sadly he was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who is believed to be aged 50 and from Harlow, was taken to the mortuary at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A dog, which is believed to belong to the man, was also killed in the collision. A second dog, also believed to be his, was taken to a veterinary for a check-up and was not seriously hurt. Police have notified the coroner of the man’s death.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

Update: 1800 hrs

ESSEX POLICE have reported that a pedestrian has been struck down by a lorry on Second Avenue.

Police were called at just after 4pm.

Officers and paramedics are on the scene.

YH understands that they may have been crossing from the path at Nicholls Tower across to the entrance at Puffers Farm Road.
