Letter to Editor: Crisis in Harlow schools
Date posted: 21-04-2017
THE Harlow and Epping Forest National Union of Teachers (NUT) delegation has just returned from the Annual NUT Conference in Cardiff.
It is appalling to see how education budgets are being stripped to beyond the bone. With costs soaring money is simply not being allocated where it is needed and schools in the area are suffering real, and deeply damaging, cuts.
“Children in our Harlow schools will suffer. Teachers and non teaching staff will be made redundant as class sizes soar. Agencies and Academy Trust CEOs continue to take every increasing sums of money out of public funds with most MAT CEOs on six figure salaries.
“The plight of Harlow schools is in a perilous place, yet, Harlow’s MP and Education Department minister, Robert Halfon, says and does absolutely nothing. One wonders why the voters of Harlow would consider re-electing him for a third time.
