A HARLOW nursery has been rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.
Raindrops Nursery based at the Meadows Childrens Centre in Harberts Road was inspected in March.
The report states:
The provider and managers have a clear and uncompromising vision for the nursery. They communicate this extremely effectively and involve every member of staff in driving forward improvement. The well-qualified staff team is confident and creative. They have many opportunities to grow in their roles.
The key-person system is exceptional. Children form secure emotional attachments with their key persons. They meet children’s individual needs extremely well and this helps to build their confidence and self-esteem.
Staff’s support and care for children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities is superb. Highly effective strategies engage parents and external agencies in supporting children’s sustained progress.
Partnership working is excellent. Parents highly praise all aspects of the nursery. They readily share news from home and ask staff questions. Parents like the detailed information they receive about children’s welfare and development. They feel supported and encouraged to successfully continue children’s learning at home.
Staff provide many varied opportunities to help children develop their imaginations. Pre-school children prepare to ‘blast off to space’ dressed up as astronauts. Toddlers enjoy pretending to cook and share meals together. Younger toddlers base their play on their own experiences, feeding dolls, cuddling them and changing their nappies.
Staff use music and singing as a highly effective learning tool. Pre-school children learn to link letters to the sounds they represent through singing. This helps them to begin blending sounds together to make words.
Younger children find puppets and hand them to staff to show them which song they want to sing.
