THREE overall competition trophies and eight-nine medals for Harlow Gymnastics Club at the Spiral Rocks competition. The open competition, held in Peterborough, hosted by Spirals Gymnastic Club, has the diamond event as the top level, followed by emerald, sapphire, ruby, topaz, jade and amethyst events. HGC’s medal haul comprised 30 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 32 bronze medals. Overall trophies were awarded to Charlotte Brough in the Sapphire competition, Emily Pask in the Jade competition and the amethyst trophy was won by Milana Lawrence.
Charlotte Brough (15) won the all ages overall Sapphire trophy and in the Sapphire challenge age 11+ event she attained 2 golds for bars & vault and 2 silvers for beam & floor. In the same event Kacey Butler (11) was awarded gold on floor and 3 bronzes for vault, bars & beam. In the Sapphire challenge age 9 event, Selene Virga (9) took gold on floor, 2 silvers for vault & bars and bronze on beam. Megan Spencer (10) was awarded 2 golds for beam & vault and bronze on bars in the Sapphire challenge age 10.
Emily Pask (8) secured the all ages overall Jade trophy and in the Jade challenge age 8 event she received 2 golds for bars & beam as well bronze on vault. In the same event, twin sister Harriet Pask (8) accomplished 3 silvers for vault, bars, beam and teammate Calleigh Brownjohn (8) was awarded gold on floor and 2 bronzes for bars & beam. In the Jade challenge age 9-10 event, Miya Simpson (9) took gold on floor and 2 silvers for vault & bars; Brooke Hayzelden (9) earned silver on floor and bronze on beam. Yasmine Thong (10) received silver on beam and bronze on vault; with teammate Kara Mcmahon (9) securing bronze on bars, in the same competition.
Milana Lawrence (7) was presented with the all ages overall Amethyst trophy after achieving gold on vault and bronzes for beam, bars & floor in the Amethyst age 7-8 event. In the same competition, Grace Quick (7) received 2 golds for bars & floor and bronze for vault; Nina Robinson (6) won silver on vault; Lola Manuel (6) took silver on floor; Renee Stewart (7) gained silver on beam and Lacie-Mai Rita (7) collected silver for bars. In the Amethyst age 6 event, Genna Lee (6) accomplished 3 golds for vault, bars, beam and bronze on floor.
Joanne Barylski (18) earned 2 golds for beam & floor and 2 bronzes for vault & bars in the Emerald challenge.
Performing in the Ruby challenge age 9, Summer Dolan (9) secured gold on vault and 2 silvers for bars & floor). In the same event, Connie Allen (9) won silver on beam; Alex Gronert (9) took silver on vault and Ruby Barker (9) received bronze on bars. In the Ruby challenge age 10-11 event, Shannah Stacey (11) obtained silver on floor and Aimee Cullen (10) placed 13th overall. Ellie Kenway (12) attained gold on vault and silver on floor; Florrie Gee (12) won gold on floor and bronze on beam and Holly Montague (12) took bronze on bar in the Ruby challenge age 12+. Millie Upton (13) & Olivia Eustace (12) placed 8th & 9th overall respectively in the same competition.
Lois Covill (8) triumphed with gold on floor and 2 bronzes on vault & bars and Amy Abery (8) collected gold on bars and bronze on floor in the Topaz challenge age 8 event. In the Topaz challenge age 9 event, Eliza Swanepoel (9) acquired 2 golds on bars & beam, Ellie Hodges (9) secured gold on floor and 2 silvers for vault & bars, Mia Brine (9) achieved gold on vault and 2 bronzes on bars & floor and Miley Bex (9) won gold on bars and bronze on vault. In the same competition, Mia Fuller (9) accomplished silver on bars and on bronze beam; Kira Henson (9) received silver on beam; Eloise Moulds (9) obtained silver on floor and Honey Gillick (9) finished in 9th position overall. In the Topaz challenge age 10-11 event, Matilda Cook (10) earned gold on beam, silver on floor and bronze on vault; Lucie Mcintyre (10) merited gold on floor and bronze on bars; Emily-May Price (10) gained bronze on floor and Scarlett Chart (10) acquired bronze on bars. Teammates Evie Jamieson (10), Evie Lees (10), Mia Blackhall (11) & Yasmin Akram (10) finished 8th, 11th, 12th & 13th places respectively, also in the Topaz challenge age 10-11 event.
Head coach of girl’s development, Aimée Teahan, said: “All the gymnasts are committed to working hard in training and dream of medals, today their hard work was rewarded with competition success and loads of medals. I am so proud of them all.”
