THE FORMER chair of Harlow Council, Donald Legat Anderson is 100 years old today (January 31st).
Mr Anderson was one of Harlow’s first ever councillors, elected as part of the first Harlow Urban District Council in 1955.
His first job in coming to Harlow was to find jobs and houses for new residents. He was one of the first residents of Chippingfield.
His wife Sonia was also a councillor. The stunning piece of sculpture called Solo Flight that sits on First Avenue was named after her.
Don Anderson now lives in Birmingham, close to his family,
