The Harvey Centre’s Christmas Spectacular
The Harvey Centre in Harlow is set to kick start Christmas in spectacular style with a day of free special events and entertainment on Saturday 17th November from 11am until 4pm.
The centre will be filled with festive cheer as customers are joined by a host of extraordinary entertainers including two hilarious kings, who will be amusing shoppers of all ages with their gags and ridiculous props. Joining them will be the festive market traders who will be showing off their catalogue of weird gadgets including a sprouting catapult and Christmas cracker safety goggles.
Bringing a further touch of comedy to the event, the Sugar Plump Fairies will be re-interpreting the famous story of The Nutcracker in their own special way. Plus a musically gifted Elf Band will entertain guests with their traditional songs including Jingle Bell Rock and Winter Wonderland. Everyone can join in and dance with the band – they will even teach shoppers their iconic ‘Elf Shuffle’ as they get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
To add to the music madness an amazing mobile piano will be driven around the centre by a madcap “nun” called Sister Ruth. She will stop and entertain people of all ages using comedy banter, hilarious dance moves, facial contortions, sound effects and unusual renditions of some favourite festive songs. Her tongue in cheek comedy act performed on a baby grand piano, built onto an electrically powered vehicle will definitely have the wow factor!
Finally the iconic Granny Turismo duo will be at the event, ready to tell tales of the good old days of Christmas past. They will ride their souped-up shopping trollies, complete with racing car sound effects and festive music, around the centre creating laughter and mayhem wherever they go.
The Harvey Centre would also like to announce that the centre will be open for late night shopping on Thursday 13 December, and then from Monday 17 December to Saturday 22 December. To give shoppers extra time to prepare for Christmas the centre will be open until 7pm on each of these days.
The centre’s Santa’s Grotto will also be open from Wednesday 7 November and this year will be bigger and better than ever before and will be styled as a giant cookie house.
Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “We wanted to make this event a huge success and really mark the beginning of the Christmas season, so we’ve arranged for a vast array of really fun performances to take place on 17th November. There really will be something for everyone to enjoy and we expect shoppers to spend the whole day with us. Our late night shopping should also make things a little easier for our shoppers in the run up to Christmas.”
