MIKE Wright, from Sheppard and Wright Butchers in Bush Fair, visited Passmores Academy this week to demonstrate the craft of butchery to some Year 10 catering students.
They have been learning about Food Provenance, where our food comes from, so Mike agreed to teach the students in a very practical and interesting way. The students learnt about the different cuts of pork, beef and lamb and the different cooking methods for the different cuts.
Ms Jameson, a Food Technology teacher said that “It was great to have Mike in and to be able to spread the Passmores community ethos by building the ongoing relationship with Passmores within the Harlow community.
“In the Food and Nutrition department we feel strongly about supporting local produce and businesses. All of the meat Mike has in his shop is British and of a fantastic quality.”
Passmores are looking forward to inviting Mike in again for further demonstrations and insightful talks about the industry.
