The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride
Review by Michael Casey and his grandchildren, Maddie and Charlie
What a brilliant idea. Whilst the main theatre hosts the very popular Aladdin pantomime, theatre two hosts The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride.
This is a wonderfully child friendly production. The front of the stage has a number of pillows for the little ones bu there was no sleepy time for them as they were entranced with this lovely show.
Lily has forgotten to send her Christmas card to Santa so, with the help f her brother, Jack, turns her bed into a sleigh so she can see Santa and deliver the letter personally.
Much of the action takes place in Lily’s bedroom, which is a bright vibrant room in what is a bright vibrant show. The creators get the balance right between dialogue, songs and action.
There is also plenty of opportunities for audience participation which everyone got involved with (even Grandads!).
The alphabet song was great, the use of the TV characters was very clever and we were especially impressed with Bernard the Elf.
The show culminates with an appearance by Santa which the children loved.
The show is just long enough for the little ones and there is a nice surprise at the end as the children get to meet Santa that makes it a perfect show.
