Man threatened by knifeman on Second Avenue

ESSEX Police is appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery in Harlow.

A 51-year-old man was walking along Second Avenue and turned onto a path leading to Greenhills at about 6.45pm on Friday 1 March.

A young man, aged between 15 and 20, asked him for a lighter before demanding his phone and wallet.

The suspect was holding a retractable knife.

The victim challenged him then left the scene. Nothing was stolen.

The suspect was described as black, of of slim to medium build and about 5ft 10ins tall. He wore a black hooded top with a white Nike logo on the front and black jogging bottoms.

He was with two other people.

Anyone who saw what happened or saw a young man matching the suspect’s description in the area at the time is asked to call Harlow CID on 101 quoting reference 42/33218/19.
