LAST week at Pear Tree Mead Academy marked the start of our ‘Aspirational’ half term and to initiate it we have had a successful and motivating careers week!
We looked to the local community to help and support us in explaining and showing the children as many different careers as possible within the week. We were very excited to welcome in a range of different professions including a nurse, lawyer, trades people, art therapist, entrepreneur, biomedical scientists and a councillor who worked with different year groups across the week. Both staff and children embraced the different experiences, creating art master pieces, business plans, acquiring unique napkin folding skills, taking part in detailed discussions, as well as learning about the opportunities that are available to them and the journey on which to embark upon to achieve these goals in the future.
To finalise the week, on Friday 1st March, we asked that the children come into school dressed in the uniform/clothes of their preferred profession, which was a huge success! We were able to clearly see all the children’s aspirations for their own future clearly displayed in their mode of dress, and we had a lot of fun doing it!
The children all excelled within the weeks activities which provided them all with inspiration for their own aspirations!
We would like to say a very big thank you to all the parents, staff, members of the community and, of course, the children for supporting our aspirational careers week at Pear Tree Mead Academy.
