Harlow Tories back Boris whilst Robert Halfon supports Sajid Javid

HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has explained why he is backing Sajid Javid to be the next leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party.

Theresa May resigned her position on Friday but remains prime minister until a new leader is selected.

A few hours later, the leader and deputy leader of the Harlow Conservatives, cllrs Andrew Johnson and Joel Charles both announced that they were backing Boris Johnson.

Cllr Johnson said: “I’ve given this plenty of consideration and have concluded Boris Johnson is the person to lead us forward, to deliver Brexit, Deal or No Deal by Oct 31st.

“He will renew the Conservatives and the whole country. Her is best placed to connect with both voters and activists.

Cllr Charles said: “I completely agree with you Andrew, Boris was a great London Mayor and has a proven track record of delivering in office.

“He will deliver Brexit and lead our country forward to a more prosperous future”.

BoJo The Clown, a “great London Mayor”? By what measure?
Would it be the Garden Bridge project? £52m of public money squandered on a project that was never started.
Or the new Routemaster? Transport for London paid £282.6m for these “Boris buses”, considerably more per bus than Boris originally suggested.
Or the cable car across the Thames which, at £60m, is the world’s most expensive urban cable car.
Or the water cannons at a cost of £323,000. Which were then outlawed by the home secretary, leaving London with three expensive but useless items of police hardware.
I suppose he was “great” at spending tax payers money.

As for his “proven track record of delivering in office.”, again by what measure?
The only government office he has held was two years as foreign secretary. During this time he wrongly claimed that a British citizen imprisoned in Iran had been training journalists in the country, described Africa as “that country” and suggested Libya had a bright future if it simply “cleared the dead bodies away”.

He did serve briefly as shadow arts minister, but was fired by Michael Howard, then Tory leader, for lying about one of his extramarital affairs.

He is a congenital liar, serially disloyal, untrustworthy, irresponsible and hopelessly chaotic.
