o celebrate World Book Day, 2 March, staff at St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School came into school dressed as various characters from Literature. Pupils took part in a competition, organised by Ms Lewis KS3 Coordinator for the English Department, to name the character, book/play and author.

St Mark’s pupils: Engineers of the future?

PUPILS at St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School took part in a special STEM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) activity day this week sponsored by the Engineering Development Trust. It was a hands-on day designed to excite and enlighten students on how STEM is fun, interesting and results in a rewarding career. It particularly focused on raising awareness of Engineering, especially with female pupils.

From Beyonce to St Mark’s: Choirmaster launches St Mark’s Gospel Project

HE may be used to working with celebrities such as Beyoncé, Nicole Sherzinger, Rihanna and Andrew Lloyd Webber- to name a few – but choral director, conductor and composer Ken Burton was working with 70 enthusiastic pupils and staff from St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School on Wednesday 14 September when he led a workshop to launch the school’s Gospel Project.
