HARLOW firefighters are joining members of the Fire Brigades Union in a nationwide strike today over ongoing pension reform disputes.
A 30-year-old man suffered burns to his hands after an incident involving a chip pan. Crews arriving at the scene in Watersmeet, Harlow requested the attendance of an ambulance team to treat the casualty. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used dry powder to extinguish the fire by 19:28 hrs.
A SMOKE alarm alerted crews to a fire in a high rise block in Great Plumtree on Tuesday morning. ECFRS sent its pre-determined attendance for this type of building but on arrival at 0245 hrs, the incident commander reported the fire, in the second floor flat of an elderly resident, was already out.
FIRE CREWS were called following a road traffic collision involving two vehicles, one had left the roadway and ended up on its roof. The incident occurred in Priory Avenue, Old Harlow at just before 11pm on Friday night.

Essex firefighters have issued safety advice to the public ahead of their strike next Wednesday. A 31-year-old woman is helping the police with their enquiries after a fire in a flat in Quarry Spring in Harlow. The woman was arrested at 10.30pm last night (Tuesday) on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

One woman was trapped in the car and firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualty by 21:10hrs. The Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance were at the scene of the incident and the casualty was placed in their care.
