Stolen jewellery found in Harlow alleyways

POLICE would like to hear from anyone who recognises a number of items of jewellery which were found discarded at two different locations in Harlow.

The first quantity of jewellery was found in an alleyway and wooded area in Finchmoor at 10.30am on Thursday January 23 and the second set on a cycle path at Woodcroft at 10am on Tuesday February 18.

Appeal after attempt robbery in Church Langley

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Harlow. The incident happened at about 5.20pm on Monday, February 17, in Burley Hill, when a woman in her 40s from Harlow was walking along an alleyway and a man on a black pedal cycle tried to grab her handbag.

Severe weather closes North Weald Market

Did these people make clean get-aways after theft of Dysons?

POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a woman they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a Dyson cleaner from B&M Bargains in Princess Gate, Harlow, at 3.55pm on January 15. A woman entered the store and selected a Dyson cleaner, then leaving the shop making no attempt to pay. A man was waiting in a white Ford Transit van outside for her to return.

Appeal after burglary in The Hides

POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary in Harlow. A house in The Hides was broken in to between 7.30pm and 10pm on February 7. Entry was gained via a back window and its thought suspects would have entered from the main road and jumped over the rear fence.

Prolific teenage burglar sentenced to two years

CONNOR Smithers of Northbrooks, Harlow, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, February 4, having been convicted of two burglaries in Rundells and Chippingfield , Harlow which happened on July 12. He also admitted a further 20 burglaries and eight offences of taking a motor vehicle, which were taken in to consideration by the court.

Harlow man arrested over arson attempt at car showroom

A 24-year-old man from Harlow was arrested on January 31 on suspicion of arson and released on bail pending further enquiries until March 31. Police attended Mini and Acy Exports Limited in Towers Road at just before 4am following reports from the fire service that the premises were on fire. There were reports that six vehicles had been damaged in the blaze.

Flood warning for the Stort

Following the overnight rainfall, the River Stort at Harlow is rising and is not expected to peak until mid afternoon. The river levels are expected to be higher than those seen on Saturday 1st February. Property flooding is possible for those properties closest to the river. There will be flooding of low lying land and roads.

Harlow man jailed over bomb threat

A HARLOW MAN who phoned police and said he was going to put a bomb in a mosque and wanted “to hang Muslims in the street” has been jailed for 12 months.
Nigel Flanaghan, 52, of Wharley Hook, Harlow, later told police he made the hoax call in January after drinking up to three litres of vodka, the court heard.

Man arrested following Harbert Road crash

A man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking a motor vehicle without permission, vehicle damage, driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, failure to provide an analysis, no driving licence and no insurance. He has been bailed pending further enquiry until March 12th.

Rock for Roots heading to The Square

ROCK For Roots is a fundraiser benefiting Herts & Essex Community Farm on the 7th February at The Square in Harlow. Herts & Essex Community Farm is a non for profit project based in High Wych, Sawbridgeworth just outside of Harlow.

Men wanted after thefts from The Stow

THREE men walked into the Co-op Pharmacy, in The Stow, at about 5.30pm on January 20 and stole the items from the display. Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Gemma Sandy, or her colleagues at Harlow, on 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Couple wanted after theft from Primark

It is alleged they entered the store in Broad Walk at around 7.45pm on December 19. They selected a jacket from the display, the man tried it on and the pair left with the man still wearing it, making no attempt to pay. The man is described as white, with short, fair hair and was wearing blue jeans and a white T shirt. The woman was white with very long dark brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a green parka jacket.

Man sought after assault at Fishers Hatch

POLICE want to hear from any members of the public who recognise a man who was caught on CCTV at the time that an assault took place at McColls, in Fishers Hatch, in Harlow. A man had entered the shop at 7.55pm on Sunday December 22, 2013 and approached a staff member at a checkout which was closed.
