PIZZA and politics return to Harlow next week with a Q and A session with Luciana Berger MP. Harlow Labour are holding a pizza & politics event on the 24th February at The Square. It is a night of very informal politics discussion with Luciana Berger, Shadow Minister for Public Health.
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Harlow. The incident happened at about 5.20pm on Monday, February 17, in Burley Hill, when a woman in her 40s from Harlow was walking along an alleyway and a man on a black pedal cycle tried to grab her handbag.
ESSEX County Council has published its proposals on the future of Essex Youth Services which are to continue the “journey the service has been on since 2011, moving away from direct delivery of the youth service to facilitating and supporting the delivery of the service via community involvement”.

POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a woman they want to speak to in connection with the theft of a Dyson cleaner from B&M Bargains in Princess Gate, Harlow, at 3.55pm on January 15. A woman entered the store and selected a Dyson cleaner, then leaving the shop making no attempt to pay. A man was waiting in a white Ford Transit van outside for her to return.
POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary in Harlow. A house in The Hides was broken in to between 7.30pm and 10pm on February 7. Entry was gained via a back window and its thought suspects would have entered from the main road and jumped over the rear fence.
CONNOR Smithers of Northbrooks, Harlow, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday, February 4, having been convicted of two burglaries in Rundells and Chippingfield , Harlow which happened on July 12. He also admitted a further 20 burglaries and eight offences of taking a motor vehicle, which were taken in to consideration by the court.
A 24-year-old man from Harlow was arrested on January 31 on suspicion of arson and released on bail pending further enquiries until March 31. Police attended Mini and Acy Exports Limited in Towers Road at just before 4am following reports from the fire service that the premises were on fire. There were reports that six vehicles had been damaged in the blaze.
Following the overnight rainfall, the River Stort at Harlow is rising and is not expected to peak until mid afternoon. The river levels are expected to be higher than those seen on Saturday 1st February. Property flooding is possible for those properties closest to the river. There will be flooding of low lying land and roads.
A HARLOW MAN who phoned police and said he was going to put a bomb in a mosque and wanted “to hang Muslims in the street” has been jailed for 12 months.
Nigel Flanaghan, 52, of Wharley Hook, Harlow, later told police he made the hoax call in January after drinking up to three litres of vodka, the court heard.
FOR THE first time in its civic history, cameras were allowed into the chambers of Harlow District Council in order to allow proceedings. The decision has come after the Department of Communities and Local Government initiated legislation that would allow recording of events.
A man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking a motor vehicle without permission, vehicle damage, driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs, failure to provide an analysis, no driving licence and no insurance. He has been bailed pending further enquiry until March 12th.

THREE men walked into the Co-op Pharmacy, in The Stow, at about 5.30pm on January 20 and stole the items from the display. Anyone with information is urged to contact Pc Gemma Sandy, or her colleagues at Harlow, on 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
It is alleged they entered the store in Broad Walk at around 7.45pm on December 19. They selected a jacket from the display, the man tried it on and the pair left with the man still wearing it, making no attempt to pay. The man is described as white, with short, fair hair and was wearing blue jeans and a white T shirt. The woman was white with very long dark brown hair and was wearing blue jeans and a green parka jacket.
POLICE want to hear from any members of the public who recognise a man who was caught on CCTV at the time that an assault took place at McColls, in Fishers Hatch, in Harlow. A man had entered the shop at 7.55pm on Sunday December 22, 2013 and approached a staff member at a checkout which was closed.
