THE ESSEX Summer of Art journey continues to heat up over the next couple of weeks with three more exciting artistic events taking place across Essex which are set to inspire all who visit: the Parndon Mill Open Studios is from 27 to 28 July, The Essex Craft and Design Show is from 27 to 28 July and the Barleylands Art Trail is from 2 to 30 August.
To launch this triple bill is the Parndon Mill Open Studios from Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 July. Set in a beautifully restored historic building and with a tranquil riverside setting, this creative hub of activity will be showcasing a huge variety of art work mediums that include: glass work, weaving, calligraphy, guitar making, ceramics, jewellery and metalwork along with fine art.
Parndon Mill’s resident artists will also be on-hand to talk to visitors about their work and will be demonstrating techniques. There will also be opportunities for residents to get involved with glass work which is visually dramatic. With the art also comes literacy at Parndon for as a part of the Essex Book Festival, Gus Casley-Hayford, author and curator, will be “in conversation” with artist, Jane Stobart, on Sunday afternoon. His recently published book “The Lost Kingdoms of Africa” will also be on sale.
