THE HEATWAVE in Harlow was broken over night by quite spectacular storms.

By 4am in Harlow, white lightning filled the skies as the hottest day of the year was followed by the warmest night.

But with the thunder and the lightning came the rain. With a three hour deluge came flooding to roads out of Harlow as in the road to Sawbridgeworth as well as a few difficulties from junction 7 to junction 6 of the M11.

Surface water also affected travel near to the Clockhouse roundabout and on Southern Way.
