THE Leader of Harlow Council is urging Kier Harlow Limited to hold urgent talks with local trade unions to stop potential strike action over a change to monthly pay dates.

Councillor Mark Wilkinson has written to Kier Harlow after the Kier Group decided that it will change pay dates from the 15th of the month to 28th.

Councillor Mark Wilkinson, Leader of Harlow Council, said: “I want to see this situation resolved urgently for both residents and the workers sake.

“I am concerned that strike action could lead to disruption to not only services Kier Harlow provide like keeping the town clean and maintaining Council housing, but also to its employees and their families many of whom are also residents of the Town.

“There needs to be local negotiation on this matter and discussions need to take place now with the trade unions to try and find an amicable resolution.”
