Councillor wants to see closer links between Harlow and Europe

Politics / Thu 22nd Aug 2013 am31 11:51am

HARLOW has an opportunity to have a say in Europe, not only as a town of 80,000 people, not only as a town ear-marked as an enterprise zone but also through a series of partnerships.

YH sat down with councillor Tony Durcan as he explained to us what this meant, the history of the town’s relationship with Europe and what it might mean for the future.

Probably the best work Harlow Council have done involving probably the most focused Councillors on either side in Andrew Johnson and Tony Durcan. Both have done a lot on this and should be applauded. But Tony, either it's unique or it isn't - you cannot be "almost unique!" Fingers crossed this brings more money into our town, and improves the level of youth unemployment. The one thing not mentioned is the effect of Immigration on this, and that should be part of the focus! Also as to why 800,000 British Jobs are advertised thoughout Europe and not just in the UK for UK employees! Maybe only UKIP can do this!
