Athletics: From Dunmow to Tallin for Harlow road runners

HARLOW Running Club members contested a number of events over the
weekend, both at home and abroad.

At the Maidenhead Half Marathon in Buckinghamshire Jamie Jephcott
finished in 197th position out of 1672 finishers in a superb 1hr 30min
43sec. He was followed home by Steve Ambrose (294th, 1.35.09), Sean
Flynn (495th, 1.42.01), Janice Page (774th, 1.50.00), David Page
(964th, 1.55.48), Karen Moir (1238th, 2.05.08) and Debbie Smith
(1239th) in a personal best time for the distance (PB) of 2hrs 05min
09sec.

At the Middlesex 10K Road Championships held at Victoria Park in
Hackney Steve Murtagh finished in 30th position out of 298 finishers
and 1st Vet 45 in a fantastic 34min 32sec. He was followed in by
Adrian Fell (119th) in a PB time of 39min 13sec and Sharon Wright
(192nd, 44.40).

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K in Waltham Abbey Stuart Saville finished
in 2nd place out of 105 finishers in an excellent PB time of 18min
25sec. He was followed home by father Graham (35th, 23.06) and Jane
Carey (67th) who equalled her PB of 27min 14sec.

At the Swineshead 10 Mile race in Bedfordshire Paul Schroder finished
in a PB time of 1hr 25min 43sec and Wendy Spring in 1hr 28min 53sec.

At the Tallinn Half Marathon in Estonia adventurous member Andy Kinney
finished in 1814th position out of 2440 finishers in 2hrs 16min 58sec.

At the Great Bardfield 10K Pasquale Pellecchia finished in 30th
position out of 108 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 45min 15sec.

At the Canvey Island 10K Vicky Calver finished in 126th position out
of 132 finishers in a PB time of 1hr 07min 55sec.

Meanwhile at the Dunmow Triathlon Terry Ridge, in his first triathlon,
finished in 49th place out of 279 finishers in a creditable 1hr 17min
14sec. This consisted of a 400m swim in the leisure centre pool in
10min 30sec, a 23K bike ride over a 1 lap undulating course in 46min
40sec and a 5K run over a 1 lap multi-terrain course with a hill at
the start in 18min 35sec.
