Running: Fell runs well in Hatfield

HARLOW Running Club members were out and about at several events at
the weekend and during the previous week.

At the Hatfield Midweek 5K Series, the 3rd race of 3, Adrian Fell
finished in 22nd place out of 102 finishers in an excellent 18min
51sec. He was followed home by John Tennant in 38th place and 1st Vet
60 and also the overall series Vet 60 winner. Dionne Jones was 48th
and 3rd Female Vet 35 in 21min 20sec, Sean Flynn 52nd in 21min 32sec
and Sharon Wright 57th in 22min 01sec.

At a very windy Great South Run 10 Mile race at Portsmouth Andy
Ramage did well to achieve a personal best time for the distance,
finishing in 1910th place out of nearly 30,000 finishers in 1hr 18min
35sec. Also achieving a PB was Paul Schroder 350th in 1hr 24min 12sec,
and Wendy Spring was 6243rd in 1hr 31min 48sec.

At another very windy south coast race, Sean Flynn finished the very
hilly Eastbourne Beachy Head Marathon in 421st place out of 1557
finishers in a creditable 4hrs 37min 19sec. This is one of the biggest
off-road marathons in the UK and is popular for its scenic and
challenging route through the South Downs National Park countryside.

At the Luton Half Marathon Colin Moody finished in 50th place out of
400 finishers in 1hr 36min 24sec.

At the Serpentine 5K at Hyde Park Steve Murtagh finished in 5th place
out of 238 finishers and 1st Vet 40 in a fantastic 16min 49sec, just
12sec outside the HRC record for his age group.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Robin Lozeau finished in
23rd place out of 92 finishers in 23min 26sec. He was followed by Paul
Schroder 28th in a PB time of 24min 08sec and Wendy Spring 36th in
25min 40sec. Bringing up the rear, but by no means overshadowed, were
husband and wife Peter and Joanne Mills who both created new HRC Vet
65 records, Peter finishing in 46th place in 27min 52sec and Joanne
70th in 30min 27sec.

At the Chelmsford Parkrun 5K David Page finished in 82nd place out of
269 finishers in 24min dead and wife Janice was 90th in 24min 25sec.

At the Sprint Triathlon at Grays Justin Patton finished the 400m swim,
20K bike ride and 5K run in 117th place out of 141 finishers in 1hr
38min 04sec.
