LAST WEEK, YH exclusively revealed that the new £2.8 million ward in the grounds of Princess Alexandra hospital was being built without planning permission.
At the time, council boss Mark Wilkinson told us that such applications “were not unusual”.
YH asked the leader if he could give us specific examples where this had occurred.
Cllr Wilkinson replied:
“On the Council’s planning database ten retrospective planning applications have been identified which were submitted in the last two years either after work had started or work had been completed.
“This figure might be more as not all applicants will admit that the planning application is retrospective and it is not necessary to amend the description to record that it is retrospective because under legislation the planning application has to be considered in the same way whether it is retrospective or not.”
YH will now go back and ask for the specific examples.
