Athletics: Lowe hits the high places in Saffron Walden

HARLOW Running Club competed in the third race of four in the East Herts and West Essex Cross Country League over a muddy 5 mile course at Saffron Walden.
First Harlow RC member to finish was Rob Lowe in 11th place out of 109 finishers and 2nd Vet 40 in an excellent 28min
55sec. He was followed home by Alan Broughton 15th in 29min 06sec and Jamie Jephcott 16th in 29min 12sec. John Tennant 50th in 33min 00sec and Pasquale Pellecchia 65th in 34min 56sec were 1st and 3rd Vet 60 finishers respectively.
The men’s team winners on the day were Ware Joggers, with Saffron Striders 2nd, Bishop’s Stortford RC 3rd and Harlow RC 4th.
First Harlow lady to finish was Julia Gardiner in 5th place out of 68 finishers and 3rd Vet 35 in a superb 32min 33sec. She
was followed by Paula Reynolds 8th in 33min 35sec and Sharon Wright 11th in 35min 24sec. The Ladies team winners on the day were Bishop’s Stortford RC with Ware Joggers 2nd, Saffron Striders 3rd and Harlow RC 4th.
After three races Ware Joggers lead the way with 11pts, Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Striders have 8pts and Harlow RC a disappointing 3pts.
