sportTHE Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is back – and it’s coming to Harlow.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Residents are being invited to come together and show their support for Sport Relief by entering Harlow Council’s second ever activeharlow Mile on Sunday 23 March 2014.

Setting off from Harlow Showground, the activeharlow Mile will take in the sights of Harlow Town Park and is set to be an incredible event in which the whole family can participate. Entrants don’t have to be athletic to take part, but can choose to complete one, three or six miles knowing that all the money raised will help to change the lives of people living tough lives across the rest of the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries.

Councillor Jean Clark, Portfolio Holder for Community and Social Inclusion, said: “The activeharlow Mile for Sport Relief is here and people have a chance to make a difference. People of all ages and levels of fitness are welcome; the last time the Council organised this event there were 280 runners who raised around £5,500 in total for Sport Relief.

“We want the event to be even bigger and better than before; it’s a great opportunity for people to do something amazing for those in need, as well as improve their own health and wellbeing. I would urge anyone who is interested to sign up for the activeharlow Mile today.”

Virgin Active will be doing the warm-up for the runners and there will also be spot prizes from Harlow Playhouse, Harlow Leisurezone and Pets’ Corner with more activities to be confirmed.
