Running: Murtagh zooms past 50 in record time

HARLOW Running Club member Steve Murtagh celebrated his recent 50th
birthday by breaking the HRC Vet 50 5K record by over a minute at the
Serpentine 5K in Hyde Park. Murtagh finished in 18th place out of 274
finishers and 1st Vet 50 in a fantastic 16min 56sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K in Waltham Abbey Janice Page finished in
35th place out of 100 finishers and 1st lady Vet 50 in a superb 24min
14sec. She was followed home by husband David 40th in 24min 52sec and
Debbie Barry 44th in 25min 33sec.

At the St Albans Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 78th place
out of 205 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 24min 22sec.

At the Chelmsford Parkrun 5K Martin McColgan finished in 101st place
out of 355 finishers in 23min 34sec.

At the Sandy 10 in Bedfordshire Joanne Lawrence, in her debut at the
distance, finished in 380th place out of 477 finishers in 1hr 34min
04sec.

At the Buttons for Brathay Bells and Whistles 10k, run along the Dover
seafront, Andy Kinney finished in 14th place out of 29 finishers in
56min 13sec. The following day Kinney completed the Brooklands Half
Marathon, starting and finishing on the famous race track at
Weybridge, finishing in 596th place out of 816 finishers in 2hrs 08min
41sec.
