Ryman Div One North Play-Off Semi-Final
Heybridge Swifts 0 v 3 Harlow Town
HARLOW Town produced a near perfect 90 minutes of football to win through to the final of the Ryman Div One Morth play-offs with a 3-0 victory against Heybridge Swifts.
Swifts were the form team of the play-offs but they never got started, looking uncertain and flat from the beginning of the game.
On a skiddy surface, Harlow started with zip and verve with a half chance for Stanley Muguo early on.
Heybridge had the hoodoo sign over Harlow but the Hawks looked determined to change all that. Swifts looked a class outfit up front with Dumaka acting as a talisman for those around him.
It might have been nerves but the first touch from both teams was poor.
In the 14th minute a red hot strike from James Smith stung the hands of the Swifts keeper.
The first fifteen minutes were all Harlow but a lovely counter by Swifts was only foiled by an interception from Darren Blewitt.
In the 24th minute, Harlow opened the scoring when an Antoine header met Alex Read and he lobbed it over the keeper to put the Hawks in the lead.
It was no more than Harlow deserved although the Swifts keeper Ashley Harrison did look a bit nervous. Heybridge were not panicking but they just had not got going yet.
And then it got worse for Swifts as a mistake in the box left the ball and the goal at Leon Antoine’s mercy. He made no mistake to make it 2-0 to the Hawks.
Harlow took complete control of the game. Infact, Swifts did not have a chance until the 41st minute when a half chance by Dumaka went wide.
Harlow came out for the second half knowing that any weakness would or should have been exploited by Heybridge.
But in the 52nd minute, Harlow extended their lead when Alex Read produced some brilliant linking play, passed to Junior Dadson who produced a rasping shot that, once again the keeper could only palm the ball away and left an easy tap in for Leon Antoine.
Harlow were rampant and could have had a fourth with another Junior Dadson run. Swifts brought on Jamie Guy but you started to feel it was too late.
Heybridge plugged away but Plan A looked as flat as Plan A. Harlow made some changes but generally controlled the game.
In the 79th minute, a free kick for Swifts summed up their night as the kick by Chris Bryan went straight into the wall.
Harlow go on to the final on Sunday against Witham Town who beat Needham Market, 1-0.
