Thornwood blaze leaves families homeless

FAMILIES from Thornwood were left homeless after fire swept through a number of dwellings in Rowley Meade.
The incident log was as follows:
Crews are using two hose reel jets and two main jets to tackle the fire.
Update 14:05hrs – Crews are continuing to tackle the fire which has now spread to 70% of the roof with smoke affecting a number other properties. Crews are wearing 10 sets of breathing apparatus and using three hose reel jets and two main jets to tackle the fire.
All people are accounted for and no is missing as a result of this fire.
An investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.
Update 14:25hrs – Seven people, including a pregnant woman, will be unable to return to their homers as a result of this fire. Crews are wearing 10 sets of breathing apparatus and using three hose reel jets and two main jets to tackle the blaze.
Update 14:50hrs – Crews are getting on top of the fire and the incident commander now reports that just 20% of the roof remains alight. Crews are continuing to fight the fire.
Update 15:07hrs – The fire has been extinguished.
Update 15:22hrs – Crews are extinguishing remaining hotspots.
Update 15:48hrs – Firefighting operations are now complete. Crews wore 20 sets of breathing apparatus and used three main jets and three hose reel jets to tackle the blaze. An investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the blaze.
