Dizzy Ducks nursery in Harlow set to take action against Ofsted after “damning” report

THE OWNER of a Harlow nursery, branded as “Inadequate” by Ofsted is taking action against the government watchdog.

As YT reported on Thursday, Ofsted gave the nursery, based at the Harlow Leisurezone, its second ‘special measures” report in less than a year.

However, Nursery Director, Sian Nisbett, has spoken to YH and put her version of events on the record

Ms Nisbett said: “We were inspected again at the end of 2013, receiving a “Satisfactory” grading. That report commented the
significant improvements made in the nursery since the previous inspection, under the new management. Indeed, that inspection outcome was completely in line with what we expected, due to the incredible amount of work put in by our team, our management and the support of Essex County Council. We were pleased with the progress made at that point.

“We are unable to comment fully on the most recent report, as we have taken action against OFSTED, and Prospects who do the inspection on behalf of OFSTED.

We are now at the second stage our our complaint process about how the inspection was performed, the factually incorrect statements in the report, and the fact that the inspector who did it was the inspector we complained about after the August 2013
report.

“This complaint process takes time and we are hoping for a full reinspection. It would be improper to comment any further, however I would say that our complaint is supported by Essex County Council Early Years team who were present during the inspection and back up our concerns over the conduct of the inspector.

“It greatly worries me that OFSTED can publish, quite frankly, anything within a report, which is then placed in the public domain while we are in the appeal process. Industry wide, this is a huge concern right now.

“I very much look forward to resolving this with OFSTED and being reinspected. In the same fortnight, two of our other sites were
inspected too – both receiving glowing reports with the outcome of “Good” with “Outstanding” elements.
