ANDREW Osagie has been selected in the 129-strong Team England athletics squad for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games which begin on July 23.
The Harlow Athletic Club member set a season’s best European and Commonwealth Games qualifying time of 1:45.37 at the prestigious Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meeting in Oregon, USA.
He finished eighth, just behind Kenyan David Rudisha who was making his comeback after a long lay-off through injury.
Jan Paterson, Team England Chef de Mission said: “Athletics is our largest squad and I am delighted by the calibre of athletes that we see in this team, not just in the shape of Olympic, World and Commonwealth Champions but also young talent who can really make their mark in Glasgow and become international names in future years.
“They will have the privilege of competing in front of a huge crowd in Scotland’s national stadium, Hampden Park, which has been transformed for the Games, and will make it very special for each of them.”
