Harlow councillor wants more action on regeneration

News / Wed 23rd Jul 2014 at 09:48am

A LEADING Harlow councillor wants to increase the pace of regeneration in Harlow.

Speaking at a recent Cabinet meeting in the civic offices, deputy leader of Harlow Council, cllr Tony Durcan stressed the need for an injection of pace in modernising the town.

Cllr Durcan said: “I want to stress how important it is that an area such as the market square is regenerated.

“Yes, we know there are arguments about who owns what etc but we need to speed things up.”

Cllr Durcan, in his capacity as a county councillor, has also been making inquiries as to what is being done about the former Passmores building on Tendring Road.

Cllr Durcan said: “It is something of an eyesore up there. I have asked the relevant councillor up in Chelmsford but received a vague answer. I will endeavour to plug away and get a timescale and/or action plan for the building’s regeneration.”
