PREVIEW: RYMAN NORTH – REDBRIDGE VS HARLOW TOWN

By Eric White

HARLOW Town FC manager Danny Chapman is urging his side to “go one better than last season” ahead of Saturday’s opening game away to Redbridge.

Hawks lost 3-0 to Witham Town in the play-off final last season and Chapman is confident that the new arrivals will mean the club will push for promotion to the Ryman Premier once more.

He said: “There were always going to be four or five new players anyway to freshen things up but we’re confident we’re in a much stronger position than last season.

“Promotion is where we should be looking for the club especially with everything they are doing off the pitch as well.

“The first few games of the season are always a little bit strange with people still trying to find their feet but a win will get a real feel good factor going.”

It can be revealed Hawks star man Alex Read, who broke the club’s goal scoring record last season with a magnificent 52 in league and cup, has been suffering with a slight ankle problem but Chapman said he should be fit for the opening day clash.

Chapman added: “We’ve got some really good players here in the group and we’re looking to go one better than last season.”

Kick-off is 3pm at the Oakside Stadium.
