Epping High Street closed after stabbing

Update: 1700 hrs

Police are continuing their investigations into the stabbing of a man in Epping High Street. The man remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital. Forensic examinations of the scene are not yet complete and a section of the road will remain closed overnight to both vehicles and pedestrians.

Update: 1600 hrs

A 31-year-old man from London who was stabbed in Epping High Street shortly before 4.25am today is in a stable but critical condition in hospital. Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the attack are continuing and if anyone has information which could assist detectives they are asked to call Essex Police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A section of Epping High Street remains closed while police conduct forensic searches. It is likely to remain shut for several more hours.


EPPING High Street has been closed while police investigate the stabbing of a man. Officers had attended at the location shortly before 4.25am today following reports that a man had been found collapsed.

Ambulance paramedics were called and he was taken Royal London Hospital for treatment. It has been established that the man, who is believed to be in his early 30s, suffered a stab wound to his chest and he is currently undergoing surgery.

Police have cordoned off an area of the High Street while a forensic examination of the area is carried out. Officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time that the incident occurred. They can contact Essex Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
