Running: Plenty of road success for Harlow

HARLOW Running Club member Steve Murtagh competed in the Middlesex 10K held in Victoria Park finishing in 29th place out of 200 finishers and 2nd Vet 50 in a fantastic 34min 54sec, just 13 seconds outside the HRC Vet 50 record.

Meanwhile at the Windsor Half Marathon, close to Windsor Castle and within the hilly confines of the Windsor Great Park, Peter Ayling finished in 967th place out of 4097 finishers in 1hr 56min 53sec.

At the Manuden 10K, near Bishop’s Stortford, Jamie Jephcott finished in 8th place out of 118 finishers in 43min 24sec. He was followed home by Jon Steadman 17th in 47min 38sec and Paul Dixon 27th in 49min 10sec.

At the Enfield 10K Jamie Luck finished in 54rd place out of 242 finishers in 47min 59sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jason Haigh finished in 5th place out 88 finishers in a superb 20min 09sec and he was followed by Andy Kinney 48th in 27min 32sec.

At the Hilly Fields Parkrun 5K at Lewisham, as its name implies a very hilly run, Peter Mills finished in 84th place out of 131 finishers and 2nd Vet 65 in 28min 10 and wife Joanne was 105th and 1st Lady Vet 65 in 29min 40sec.

At the Basingstoke Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 52nd place out of 338 finishers and 1st Vet 65 in an excellent 21min 15sec.

At the Great Notley Parkrun 5K at Braintree Alan Wellbelove finished in 61st place out of 86 finishers in 31min 04sec.
