Epping OngarESSEX Highways is giving one of the county’s tourist attractions a boost by putting up brown signs to help attract more visitors.

Brown tourism signs will direct drivers to Epping Ongar Railway, the longest heritage line in the county

The signs will help visitors exiting the M11 and using the A414, A128 and A113 to find the attraction at Chipping Ongar.

Councillor Rodney Bass, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “The distinctive brown road signs are becoming increasingly recognisable to families looking for exciting days out and events throughout our county.

“We are keen to promote local tourism and believe brown signs are an effective way of attracting visitors from far and wide.”

It is expected the signs will be in place before March.
