D Day for Harlow Rugby Club as plans for housing go to committee

News / Tue 16th Dec 2014 at 06:35pm

Harlow Rugby ClubAN application for 125 dwellings on the grounds of Harlow Rugby Club is set to go forward to the Harlow Council planning committee on Wednesday evening.

The application is being made by Kier Living Ltd and Harlow Rugby Club.

The erection of over a hundred houses will no doubt create a great deal of attention as such as development would have to pass the test of having very special circumstances.

Many already point to the congestion on the roads near to Elizabeth Way as a major factor, despite improvements to the systems.

The planning application has considerable history, going back to 2001. The applications were dismissed for a series of reasons but it appears that this time, the applicants believe that they have got it right.

An application will also be heard regarding the rugby club moving to land near to Second Avenue and Howard Way.

One of the major objectors is the Harlow Civic Society who believe that the area is wrong for a housing application of this magnitude.

There are also a number of individuals both for and against the proposal.
