ESSEX County Council has secured two court orders to help resolve the issue of illegal traveller camps in Harlow.
A number of families have unlawfully set up at the old Passmores School site, Tendring Road, Harlow.
The first of the court orders to move them from their current location was issued on Friday 19 December.
The second court order application was successful today and will be available for use from tomorrow to ask the remaining groups to leave.
Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Gypsies and Travellers, Cllr Roger Hirst said: “We are working in partnership with the police and have made a formal request for police support to help move the travellers on from the old Passmores School site.
“Due to size of the encampment and the reluctance of the people to leave the site, the police presence is an essential element to help the bailiffs carry out the eviction notices.”
Well, did they?
