Family pays tribute to “gentle giant” Jon Aicken

Jon AickenA MAN who died following a road collision in Roydon has today been named as Jonathan Aicken.

The 24-year-old motorcycle rider of Fold Croft in Harlow sadly died at the scene following the collision in Tylers Road which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, December 24.

A tribute issued by his family states: “Jon was known affectionately among his friends as Panda. He was a gentle giant who lived life to the full. His passions were motorbikes, viking culture and loud music, attending many live gigs and music festivals both within the UK and across Europe. Jon was a regular at The Square, well known for his bear hugs and caring nature. If he heard that any of the girls in his circle of friends were walking home alone he would go miles out of his way to make sure they got home safely.

“Jon will be missed by his mum Anne, brothers James and Nick as well as his extended family and large circle of friends.

“His family are overwhelmed by the messages of support and the generous donations to the fund organised by his friends to cover funeral costs, which has raised £7,500.”

A 25-year-old woman from Hatfield in Hertfordshire was arrested on Thursday, December 25, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

She has been bailed pending further police enquiries until Monday, January 26.
