ROBERT Halfon, MP for Harlow, has welcomed the news that NCP will make changes to the car park by Harlow Town Station.

Over the last few months, Robert Halfon has been contacted by multiple residents who have faced unfair car parking fines, despite paying for a ticket, due to parking in a ‘restricted area’ which many have claimed was not properly signposted.

Robert recently met with the NCP who said that all their signage met all legal standards, however they vowed to look into the issues to see what more could be done. Mr Halfon has now heard from NCP who have said that they will be putting a new barrier system into place which will prevent people from unknowingly parking in the restricted parking area. They have also installed extra signs.

Robert has also raised the individual cases of people who have been affected by the fines. In his meeting with the Director of NCP who said that he would look carefully at all of the cases that Robert has raised. Although NCP have made it clear that the fines met the legal standards, NCP have so far refunded some individuals the ticket as a gesture of goodwill, although there are still some cases that have not yet been resolved.

Robert welcomed this change saying “I am glad that NCP have listened, and are investing in the car park to prevent people from making these honest mistakes again. It is good news that in some of the cases that NCP have looked at again, they have agreed to refund the fines as a gesture of goodwill. I am hopeful that situation will soon be fully resolved”.
