Firefighters in 24-hour strike today over pension reform disputes

News / Wed 25th Feb 2015 at 12:17pm

HARLOW firefighters are joining members of the Fire Brigades Union in a nationwide strike today over ongoing pension reform disputes.

The 24-hour strike will run from 7am on February 25th to 7am on February 26th.

A spokesperson for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said there are working crews providing cover and “strong resilience arrangements” are in place.

Members of the public are advised to call 999 in an emergency and the fire brigade will respond as normal.

People are also urged to be safer, slower and more vigilant during the strike so resources can be diverted where they are most needed.

Safety advice can be found on Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s Facebook and Twitter feeds throughout the day and on their website: www.essex-fire.gov.uk
