HARLOW MP, Robert Halfon has welcomed the court decision to grant an injunction against illegal encampments.

Mr Halfon said: “For over a year now, I have been working hard in Parliament with debates, questions and meetings with Ministers and the Police to help get the siege of Harlow ended.

“Today’s announcement is a major step forward to ridding our town of this blight once and and for all, and comes alongside commitments made by the Chief Constable to look at what more can be done. It is good news for Harlow residents that an interim injunction has been granted, which will ban the setting up of illegal encampments across the town, until there is a full hearing later in the year.

“Although I think this is something that should have been done a long time ago, I am grateful for all of the fantastic work of the Harlow Antisocial Behaviour Team, who have worked hard alongside Essex County Council to secure this injunction.

“I am hopeful that in the time before we get the full injunction, the town can get to normality. We must ensure that Harlow never again is seen as a soft touch for unauthorised or illegal‎ encampments”.
