Business minister impressed with Harlow businesses

Andrea LeadsomTREASURY minister Andrea Leadsom joined the Conservative prospective MP for Harlow, Robert Halfon, on the campaign trail, visiting an inspiring small business, Tiaras Hair and Beauty in the Stow, and Raytheon in the Pinnacles.

Tiaras Hair and Beauty, who won Robert Halfon’s Small Business Awards last December, is a business that in little over 2 years has grown from strength to strength and now includes a Toning Tables Therapy Centre. The therapy centre aims not only to keep people fit but also to help people suffering a range of conditions affecting muscles and bones.

Prospective MP for Harlow, Robert Halfon, said: “This is a great small business with an inspiring story. I am delighted to see how well Tiaras and the therapy centre are doing and also to hear the stories of the many people the centre has helped.”

Treasury minister Andrea Leadsom said: “I have seen a fantastic, successful business and many inspiring stories from its customers. Tiaras and the Toning Tables Therapy Centre showcase the best of Harlow”.

Later on, Minister Andrea Leadsom and Robert Halfon visited Raytheon, a major employer in town and leader in the aerospace and defence sectors. There they met a group of graduate employees who work with Harlow schools and the Sir Charles Kao UTC to encourage students to choose Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology for their curriculum. Ms Leadsom and Mr Halfon also visited a laboratory where some of the world’s most advanced GPS technology is developed.

Robert Halfon said : “Raytheon is the centre of innovation in town and also a great supporter of Sir Charles Kao UTC. It makes the town proud that its products, used all over the world, are developed here in Harlow”.

Andrea Leadsom said: “Raytheon is an amazing company, a leader in aerospace and defence. Their focus on innovation and development of new technologies is the best proof that Harlow is open for business and excellence”.
