Ward by ward: Harlow Common

Politics / Thu 30th Apr 2015 at 07:15pm

THE incumbent councillor is Mark Wilkinson. Mark was the leader of Harlow Council and has a proud record as a councillor. Mark has always had a sense of pride in Harlow and a sense of civic pride.

UKIP ran Labour very close last May. We think that was their best shot. No doubt, they will think we are wrong but you never know.

Labour only won by 26 votes and will want to extend that lead this time. Mark Wilkinson has been seen out on the campaign trail a lot and will no doubt stand on his own record.

If there is an issue we would pick up it is what is happening with Prentice Place. But that is for another day.

Prediction: Lab hold

Mike Carr (UKIP)
Emily Cross (Cons)
Ian Jackson (Lib Dems)
Mark Wilkinson (Lab)

Underestimating the popularity of local resident Mike Carr could be a big mistake. Mike has been a key player in the Residents Association in Potters Street, as well as on the Council's Tenant Advisory Group. As the only candidate that actually lives in the the ward, his local following is quite considerable!
