Athletics: Impressive fourteen complete London Marathon for Harlow Running Club

HARLOWHarlow Running Marathon Running Club fielded 14 runners in this years Virgin Money London Marathon. They were among a record number of 37,581 finishers on what was a great day for running with overcast skies and very mild temperatures. This was reflected in their performances, with half of the runners achieving personal best times for the distance (PB) and two club records. Several runners ran for charity raising almost £8000 for various charities including St Clare Hospice, VICTA, Sense, Accuro and Age UK. First Harlow runner to finish was Jared Bethell in 646th place in an excellent 2hrs 48min 16sec and he was followed home by Jamie Jephcott 2547th in a superb 3hrs 06min 35min (PB) and Andy Terrell 5043rd in 3hrs 24min 19sec (PB).

First Harlow lady was Louise Brass 3125th in a fantastic 3hrs 11min 28sec (PB) followed by Dionne Jones 5719th in a superb 3hrs 27min 50sec to create a new HRC Ladies Vet 45 record which has stood since 1998 and Lyndsey Hodge 8120th in 3hrs 39min 55sec (PB). Vet 60 runners Colin Moody was 7318th in 3hrs 35min 57sec and John Tennant 9180th in 3hrs 44min 03sec. At the other end of the spectrum Daniel Jephcott was 10,570th in 3hrs 49min 17sec (PB) which is a new HRC U20 record by an incredible 22min. Also running were Saira Karim 11,697th in 3hrs 53min 26sec, Alan Cootes 14,377th in 4hrs 01min 24sec, Andy Ramage 14,727th in 4hrs 02min 53sec, a PB by an amazing 37min, Debbie Smith 15,044th in 4hrs 04min 18sec(PB) and Debbie Bodhanya 35,111 in 5hrs 56min 23sec in her debut at the distance.

Meanwhile at the St George’s Day Marathon run at Deal in Kent Andy Kinney finished in 40th place out of 74 finishers in 4hrs 40min 51sec and Vicky Calver was 73rd in 6hrs 10min 15sec.

The following day Kinney completed the Wonderland Caucus Race, held at Dover to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, finishing in 100th place out of 107 finishers in 38min 00sec.

Kinney then completed his third race in three days at the Harlow Parkrun 5K finishing in 27th place out of 94 finishers in 26min 32sec. Also running were Robin Lozeau 16th in 23min 50sec, Louise Cootes 34th in 28min 06sec and Alan Cootes 35th in 28min 08sec.

At the Southampton Half Marathon Sheila Leach finished in 2889th place out of 4258 finishers in a PB time of 2hrs 07min 24sec.

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Julian Patten finished in 20th place out of 131 finishers in a PB time of 22min 07sec. He was followed by John Bull 23rd in 22min 28sec, Graham Saville 38th in 24min 36sec, Martin McColgan 39th in 24min 39sec, Alison Bull 90th in 28min 47sec and Vicky Calver 111st in 32min 00sec.

At the Oak Hill Parkrun 5K at Barnet Richard Solomons finished in 9th place out of 89 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 21min 25sec.

At the Penrith Parkrun 5K Jim Bates finished in 25th place out of 94 finishers and 1st Vet 70 in 24min 10sec.

At the Cassiobury Parkrun 5K at Watford Louise Kedge finished in 53rd place out of 116 finishers in 26min 53sec.
