Athletics: Busy holiday weekend for Harlow athletes

HARLOW Running Club member Ben Chitiyo produced an excellent performance at the Harlow Parkrun 5K, in his debut at the distance, finishing in 3rd place out of 118 finishers and 2nd Vet 40 in 20min 12sec. He was followed home by Alan Broughton 5th and 1st Vet 50 in 20min 58sec, Paul Dixon 16th in a personal best time for the distance (PB) of 23min 16sec, Jim Bates 21st and 1st Vet 70 in 24min 03sec (PB) which is a new HRC Vet 70 record, Alan Wellbelove 38th in 26min 57sec, Louise Cootes 41st in 27min 23sec and Andy Kinney 43rd in 27min 44sec.

Meanwhile at the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Martin McColgan finished in 40th place out of 180 finishers in 24min 21sec. He was followed by Janice Page 64th and 2nd Lady Vet 50 in 25min 15sec and Celia Haigh 92nd in 27min 35sec.

At the Southampton Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 147th place out of 773 finishers and 2nd Vet 65 in a superb 21min 52sec.

At the Cambridge Parkrun 5K Louise Kedge finished in 214th place out of 403 finishers in 25min 54sec (PB).

At the Colchester Parkrun 5K Vicky Calver finished in 214th place out of 331 finishers in 29min 48sec.

At the Milton Keynes Marathon Brendon Maclean finished in 418th place out of 1558 finishers in a PB time of 3hrs 48min 31sec.

At the Milton Keynes Half Marathon Andy Kinney finished in 1139th place out of 1677 finishers in 2hrs 13min 13sec.

At a very hilly Greenway Challenge Half Marathon, a rural trail run at Letchworth, Sean Flynn finished in 46th place out 203 finishers in 1hr 46min 32sec.
