Ward by ward: Staple Tye-UKIP heartland?

UKIP were delighted to have won this seat in May 2014. Bill Pryor worked hard and seems to have really enjoyed being a councillor since then. Harlow UKIP even opened an office in the ward which was a real signal of intent.
To counter this, both Labour and Conservatives have undertaken a lot of campaigning up in the ward, whether it is in the shopping area or in Brockles Mead.
UKIP won by 61 votes last time. YH believes that day was the peak for the party. Then again, back in the nineties, this reporter thought the SNP would for ever be a fringe party!
The Labour candidate, John Strachan, is having his second crack at the ward. The former Lib Dem has certainly worked the ward and been one of Suzy Stride’s hardest working helpers.
This is also the UKIP candidate’s second shot. Peter lives in the ward and again, has been out with UKIP campaigning.
YH happens to think that Labour have done an awful lot of work in this ward and their ground war will help Suzy Stride nationally and Mr Srachan may benefit in her wake.
YH predicts: Labour hold
Peter Buss (UKIP)
John Strachan (Lab)
Chris Millington (Lib Dem)
Steve Souter (Cons)
Brockles Mead is in Sumners & Kingsmoor, not Staple Tye. The increased turnout for the General Election was always going to benefit the two old parties.
