Grants up for grabs in East Herts

APPLICATIONS have opened to apply for grants for Community Activities and Capital Community Grants as well as for young sports people or those involved in the arts.
Performance to Excellence Grants of up to £250 aim to help 11-18 year olds reach their full potential in the arts or sports, by helping with travel costs to competitions or additional training fees.
The Community Activities Grant scheme supports local community groups whose work enhances the quality of life for residents, particularly those who are vulnerable and senior citizens in East Herts. Grants from £50 to £500 are available to cover the costs of outings, events and community fun days, as well as costs for equipment hire, insurance, travel, marketing/publicity, small items of equipment, volunteer training and other general running costs.
Herts Boat Rescue received a grant of £500 to buy four life jackets for young volunteers from East Herts to wear when they go out with the rescue team in the summer. Stuart Foreman, Chairman said: “Thank you for all your help in making water safer in East Herts and enabling youngsters to learn what we do as well as life skills.”
The Council can also fund building refurbishments / improvement projects and large items of equipment for well-used and valued community facilities and services in rural areas of East Herts with Capital Grants of up to £8,000.
