Politics / Mon 15th Jun 2015 at 10:47am

Halfon ReferendumMPs voted overwhelmingly in favour of the EU Referendum Bill, a law that will ensure that an in-out referendum on the European Union is held before the end of 2017.

The MP for Harlow Robert Halfon has welcomed the news as “a very important moment in our country’s history”.

“For the first time since 1975 Harlow residents will finally be able to have a say on our country’s membership of the European Union.

“We have achieved something which I have been campaigning on for many years. A few years ago I set up Let Harlow Decide and at the last election the promise of an in-out referendum was included in the Conservative Party manifesto. I am delighted that we have kept that promise and I look forward to having the debate”.

The bill, which yesterday passed the its second reading in the House of Commons by 544 votes to 53, will now proceed to the next stage of its parliamentary passage, with a four-day examination by a committee of MPs next week.

Three questions for you Robert. 1) What do you want Mr. Cameron to negotiate? 2) What will he negotiate? and 3) How will you vote if he fails?

If Cameron asks for nothing substantial from the EU and they give him nothing substantial will you say his renegotiation have been a success?
