IF you are over 16 and have at least five GCSEs you could be in line for an advanced apprenticeship in procurement at Essex County Council.
Procurement is an area that crosses all industries and is key to any business.
By doing an apprenticeship in this field you could be involved in procuring for areas such as:
• Construction and road building
• Improving the environment via waste recycling treatment plants
• IT systems
• Social care
Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council’s Deputy Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Infrastructure, said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for young people in Essex to get their feet on the ladder towards a career in a very important area. It shows that Essex means business when it comes to building skills for the future and that this county council leads by example in supporting apprenticeships.”
Apprentices earn while they learn in a real work environment. Doing an apprenticeship will also equip them with skills and knowledge for their future career.
As well as on the job experience and a salary, they will get paid holidays and gain qualifications including a Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.
CIPS is the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. It is the professional body for procurement professionals, and the apprentices would be starting with the entry level qualification on the journey towards becoming a qualified professional in that area, should they continue beyond the apprenticeship.
To apply for an apprenticeship in procurement, you must be an Essex resident, and you will need, or must be predicted to achieve, a minimum of 5 GSCEs at grade C or above, including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents).
The apprenticeship starts in September 2015 and will be for 18 months.
For more information, come to the drop-in event on Wednesday 8 July between 10am-3pm at The Remembrance Square (outside the library), County Hall, Chelmsford, or email: [email protected] To apply for one of the apprenticeships, visit https://www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeship/572593
