Letter to Editor: Support for Greece

THE trade unionists of Harlow Trades Union Council in Essex wish to extend their greetings of solidarity in these difficult times of austerity.
Here in Britain we too face austerity and are struggling to find a new direction from our established political parties and to build an alternative to austerity.
We all had high hopes for Syriza and their leader Alexis Tsipras. We are most disappointed that a deal with the Troika has been concluded at such a high price to the workers of Greece.
Amongst our numbers were people who followed the views of the KKE communists in that withdrawal from the EU was the best guarantee of cancelling or restructuring the debts of Greece. Recent events have led to consensus within our committee that withdrawal from the EU is the way forward, especially as €50bn of privatisation is part of the Troika repayment package.
However, it is for the workers of Greece to determine their own destiny and we will give what moral and physical support we can.
We wish you success in your struggle.
