THE park was closed as a precaution last Friday (7 August 2015) after a child slipped and broke a leg.

Councillor Emma Toal, Portfolio Holder for Youth & Community, said: “The health and safety of residents is our immediate priority so we closed the park on Friday while we carried out an investigation and inspection of the facility.

“This has now been completed and there were no faults found or follow up actions required. As the facility has not been in operation for a few days the tank in the pump room is being drained and the system re-chlorinated before it can reopen.

“The paddling pools and splash park are popular facilities for families and the thousands of children who use them during the summer holidays. This incident last Friday was an unfortunate accident and we wish the child a full and speedy recovery.”
