THIS year’s Farm Fest, at the Herts and Essex Community Farm in Foldcroft, will be taking place on Saturday August the 29th at 13:00pm, before moving onto The Square from 20:00pm until late.

The day will start at the farm with live music, face painting, stalls, henna artists, a pop up art gallery with work from local artists, craft sellers, a kids art stall, Tall Tales storytelling for kids, and a farm shop where you can try some of our fresh produce. They will also have a raffle taking place on the day with some fantastic prizes.

A spokesperson said: “We will be serving food all day with BBQ, jacket potatoes and freshly cooked farm produce served from the kitchen in a range of tasty vegetarian dishes. We also hope to be serving pizza from our new clay oven.

“At 20:00pm Farm Fest will move to The Square, where there will be music from local bands and DJs until the early hours. The whole event is free (until 11pm), although we are asking those who wish to come and join us at The Square to bring along a charity food donation for Streets2Homes.

“In the last year our volunteers have built a kitchen using donated materials and recycled wood. They have also created two new seating areas, with recycled furniture and seating made from donated wooden pallets.

“The varied weather we have had means we have had great success in growing a range of fruit and veg. This year’s crop includes, potatoes, onions, garlic, peas, runner beans, lettuces, spring onions, celery, beetroot, carrots, tomatoes, courgettes, squashes, marrows, sweetcorn, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbages, kale, parsnips, peppers, aubergines, cucumbers, chillies, chard, pumpkins, sprouts, strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries, blackberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, figs, rhubarb, horseradish and various types of herbs.

“We have also planted colourful flowers to attract bees and butterflies”.

Organiser Elliot Wollen, said: “We aim to repeat the success of last year’s Farm Fest, and hope to attract lots of families, and local residents looking for something interesting to do on the Bank Holiday weekend. It would be great if you could join us in celebrating the end of Summer at the farm.”
